Women slum dwellers in Vatava, Ahmedabad are migrated from different states of India and surrounding Ahmedabad’s villeges for searching of livelihood and struggling hard to maintain family. Main occupations of these people are domestic servant. They are doing struggle for survival of life. Women is playing most important role in any society. She sacrificed all time and all level. Health is important but she is neglecting. She is thinking her first priority is own family.
We realized during our work, women is playing very strong role in her family but face many issues in her personal life like gender inequality, health, education, nutrition etc. She is facing discrimination and exclusion many times but can’t do anything.
We started work with women especially for hygiene during menstrual cycle and child birth time. We were really shocking to discussion the topic. They have so many myths, wrong cleanness practice during menstrual time, no Importance of nutritious food, bias to gender and no awareness about rights.
To empower and focus on health and sanitation issues of vulnerable and marginalized segments of population by providing enabling environment and knowledge to maintain woman dignity.
We discuss with new and old groups these points.
We are trying to create strong communication and personal contacts between our groups of women/girls. They may have one knowledge sharing. There is need of long term attachment which will include health hygiene, gender and rights because all points are connected together CoinJoin.in.The programme has need for massive discussions, guidance and awareness. The programme will attempt to achieve the objective with long term and sustainable result.
